This was by far my favorite day trip out of Copenhagen. We had two targets today, the first was the Kronborg Castle which is the castle that Hamlet takes place in. The Kronborg Castle used to be very wealthy because it was a gift from King Fedrick the 2ndd to his wife Sophia. The castle was built with white sandstone and the top of the castle was painted with copper. A lot of the wealth of the castle came from its tax on ships passing through. The location was prime.
We took the same train line that we took to Malmo yesterday but in the opposite direction towards Helinsbor.
The castle is about a 15-minute walk from the train station. I recommend you getting there early to enjoy the beauty and peacefulness before everyone came.
The castle itself doesn't open until 10 am, we got there around 9, so we got to enjoy the grounds of the castle for a little bit.
The best part of visiting this castle was seeing the live performance of Hamlet!
After enjoying the Kronborg Castle, we went on our way to enjoy Fedriksborg Castle
